GottaCon Introduces Management Team for 2014
As GottaCon entered its sixth show year with another growth in attendance expected we knew we would need help to handle the ever growing workload associated in running and improving a gaming convention. We just wanted to take a moment and introduce the individuals that will be helping to deliver our biggest and best show ever. We are very excited to have these individuals, some veterans, some new blood, on-board this year and we hope you are too!! Sol Kauffman, Social Media Manager Sol’s geek cred goes as far back as his shoe size and features a packed-to-groaning Steam account and a few remaining Warhammer 40k miniatures. These days he is the drummer of local indie rock band Woodsmen and avid Magic: The Gathering player, aiming to conquer his first PTQ top 8. He is often seen doing coverage for MTG events as the Coverage Manager for Yellowjacket Comics & Games, and also works as an online community manager for several other local businesses. This year he will be lending his talents to GottaCon to keep everyone informed over social media. As a founding member of University of Victoria (UVic) Urban Gaming, UVic Minecraft and the Concentric Gaming Convention he is no stranger to jumping in the thick and dirty to make a crazy plan come together. Be it tabletop, board game, RPG, or videogame if you promise a high energy experience and a good laugh, you can guarantee that Chris will jump in to crank the power up to eleven. In his first year as Volunteer Manager he hopes to build some strong relationships and further strengthen the Victoria gaming community. His many years of attending major LANs such as PAX, LANcouver and GottaCon provide him with an attendee perspective on what works, how to run an efficient event and how to keep it fun. While it is his first year on our team he is no stranger to helping our event. Last year he stepped in and co-commentated the League of Legends tournament and helped the production team where possible. Kellan is a broad spectrum gamer who has competed in TCG, board game and computer gaming tournaments at GottaCon. We look forward to his passion and enthusiasm in helping deliver our biggest LAN event to date. While competitive, he believes having fun is more important than winning. This is his second year with GottaCon, but he’s aiming to make this year’s board gaming events the best yet. Lee is focusing on honing his creative juices by working on his screenwriting, reviewing independent games for JTMgames and, when time allows, gaming with friends. Contact Lee regarding board game related questions and events at: email@example.com Mike Gruber, Role Playing Games Manager Mike discovered his love for Role-Playing Games when he was just 8 years old. Since then he’s played every edition of Dungeons & Dragons and more RPGs than he can count. Mike is currently the head of the Vancouver Island Gaming Guild, an active supporter of the Old School Renaissance, and a fan of all table-top RPGs – whether in-print or out! His desire to grow the gaming community lead him to the position of RPG Manager for GottaCon where he’s committed to bringing the best in gaming to the attendees. Contact Mike regarding role playing games related questions and events at: firstname.lastname@example.org Paul Puhallo, Miniatures Manager Paul has been with GottaCon since the beginning back in 2009. Paul’s continued dedication to GottaCon and Miniature based events and communities as a whole made him one of our most wanted. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have him continue on as our Miniatures Manager for GottaCon 2014. Paul is very outgoing, kind, considerate and dedicated individual that strives to make our events the most well presented, fun and fair that they can be. We look forward to what he will bring to our 2014 show. BC Gamer (www.bcgamer.com) have been running LAN parties for the last 10+ years and have been involved in the delivery of the GottaCon LAN for the last two years. Their reliable efforts and knowledge has been a huge asset to our LAN and this year they will be taking on all LAN operations. The group consists of I.T. professionals who work on enterprise servers & networks as day jobs, and are avid LAN enthusiasts during their off time. BC Gamer strives to throw world class competitive LAN events. Contact BC Gamer regarding LAN related questions at: firstname.lastname@example.org Wilf Rondeau, Back End Office Manager Wilf has been involved in GottaCon from the very beginning – in fact, even before the beginning. In GottaCon terms, he’s prehistoric. From press releases before GottaCon 2009, Wilf has worked in concession, cash control, badge registration, setup and teardown…in fact Wilf is one of the few individuals who knows all there is to know about GottaCon. In 2014, he will be blitzing all local media on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland to make them aware of this great event. During the convention he will be behind the scenes looking after finances and supplies, or on excursions to keep the food flowing. Once again we are proud to present our 2014 show managers and we look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at our 2014 event.
